FAQ

Q: What is hypnosis and hypnotherapy?

A: Hypnosis is a different state of consciousness from being awake or asleep, it is a state of relaxed focus being called a trance state. As per psychology hypnosis is state of high suggestibility, physiologists define it as specific mind mode when it is possible to edit conditioned reflexes, physicians denote that hypnosis opens access to emotional memory and it is possible to remember even early childhood events. In fact, people enter a natural state of trance many times a day: highway driving, listening to music, watching TV, “going somewhere else” while reading a book or drifting off while dreaming are all altered states of consciousness with different levels of trance. Thus natural trance state is one of the functions of our psyche - psychic restructuring is happening in the trance. Hence trance state is therapeutical itself.

Altered states of awareness have been recognized for thousands of years and hypnosis is widely accepted as a beneficial psychological therapy to access our inner potential.

The practice of promoting healing or positive development in any way using hypnosis is known as a hypnotherapy.  Hypnotherapy aims to re-programme patterns of behavior within the mind, enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions and feelings to be overcome.

Q: What does hypnosis feel like?

A: In general hypnosis feels like a state of deep relaxation. Some people feel light as if they are kiting; others feel heavy as if they are sinking into the chair. But do not expect to go to sleep or lose touch with reality.  You are fully aware, and you will know everything that is going on around you.

Q: Who can be hypnotized?

A: Anyone who can pay attention and follow instructions can be hypnotized if they want to be. People will vary however, as to the extent or depth to which they can be hypnotized.

While it is true that some people may go deeper into hypnosis than others, the important thing is that the positive changes through hypnotherapy can happen just as effectively under a lighter hypnosis.

Q: Can I be hypnotized without my will?

A: No, hypnotherapy is a two way process between the therapist and the client, a professional partnership and cooperation. A person cannot be hypnotized unless he or she agrees and co-operates.

Q: Is hypnosis safe?

A: Yes, hypnosis is perfectly safe. You are always in control of the situation and you are never unconscious.  Hypnosis has no possible side effects.

Q: Does hypnotherapy have any restrictions?

A: You will be refused to have hypnotherapy if you are under influence of alcohol or drugs.

You may be requested to get an approval from your doctors before you start hypnotherapy if you are taking prescribed medication, having pre-existing medical conditions, epilepsy, heart conditions, and psychosis.

Also many mental disorders have serious restrictions for hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

Q: What issues can be treated by hypnotherapy?

A: Hypnotherapy can be applied to many psychological, emotional and physical problems such as fears, phobias, addictions and co-addictions, different dysfunctions, including sexual, self-esteem and confidence issues, depression and stress disorders, life crisis, anxiety, panic attacks,  relationship issues including personal, social and professional life, psychosomatic disorders, stuttering / stammering, post-traumatic syndrome, grief, obsessions, weight management, obesity, chronic pains and pain management, goal achievement and motivation, nightmares, nail-biting, bruxism, different emotional problems, and many more. Please contact us if you have any questions about other issues which can be treated with the help of the hypnotherapy.

Q: Will I tell all my secrets under the trance?

A: No, what you decide to share will be no different in hypnosis than out of hypnosis. Your subconscious mind knows what is appropriate for you to share publicly. You are always in control of the process and what you tell to the hypnotherapist.

Q: Why is hypnosis so effective?

A: In most of the therapies the work is going on conscious level only while in the hypnotherapy we work with subconscious mind which controls all of our living functions that keep us alive, as well as all of our automatic behavioral patterns and responses to the world. Those patterns and responses can be created in the subconscious mind in three ways: through trauma, through repetition (of events or emotions), and through the language of hypnosis.  You consciously may want to change your behavior or habits and may have decided to change them but your subconscious mind continues to control the old behavioral habits and this creates and perpetuates inner conflict.  With the help of the hypnotherapy subconscious mind can be reached and hypnotherapist can guide you through the process of reframing or restructuring old destructive patterns so inner conflict will be solved. The subconscious mind understands metaphors, associations, imaginations and patterns which hypnotherapists are trained to use. If you are motivated to make a change and have a good rapport with your hypnotherapist hypnotherapy can be mind-blowing effective.

Q: How many sessions of hypnotherapy will I need?

A: The duration of the therapy will be dependent on your circumstances and the reason for which you are seeking hypnosis. The hypnotherapist will let you know how many sessions you might need before starting the therapy, and you will be flexible when it comes to decreasing or extending the number of sessions to correlate with your progress and needs. In average 3-6 sessions will be required.
